IHEARTCOMIX and MEDIA CONTENDER are proud to present the LOS ANGELES premiere & After-Party for THE ELECTRO WARS, the highly anticipated EDM documentary from director Stephen Alex Vasquez. Exploring the past, present, and future of electronic/dance music, The Electro Wars captures the perspective of the electro scene as told through the eyes and ears of the artists that are helping to define it. The film features unique footage right from the frontlines and includes in depth interviews with artists such as A-Trak, Moby, Justice, Lil Jon, Spank Rock, Steve Aoki, Diplo & Switch, Franki Chan, DJ Premier, Midnight Juggernauts, LA Riots, Classixx, Matt & Kim, Ninjasonik, Dave 1, Pitbull, Laidback Luke, Crookers and many more.
The Los Angeles premiere is to be held at the classically elegant VISTA THEATER on Sunset and promises to be exceptionally special. Los Angeles has always strongly influenced and shaped the electronic and dance landscape, with many of the artists either from or currently living within the area. From eccentric warehouse parties and weekly club nights to impressive festivals such as Electronic Daisy Carnival and the HARD Festival series, these artists and events provide a consistant presence of the electronic culture within a very dense and ever changing musical locale. There is no doubt that the LA premiere will leave its own unique mark in the ever evolving history of The Electro Wars.
The screening will begin at 6:30pm and continue until 10:30pm. The director and producer will be on hand for a short Q & A to follow the screening. Tickets will be available to the general public for $10, and will also include admittance to the post-premiere, after-party to be held at EL CID on Sunset.” – Franki Chan

EDM Tragedies
July 25th, 2010I usually abstain from inserting my political and social commentaries via the Electro Wars website, but since this is tragedy related to EDM (Electronic Dance Music) I felt compelled to post regarding the matter. What transpired yesterday in Germany is truly saddening. My heart and prayers go out to those who lost friends and family at the Love Parade yesterday. One has to wonder what long lasting effects this will have on EDM culture and “Raves” across the globe, my main concern being America. We’re certainly no strangers to staining the rave culture ourselves. Last month a 15 year old girl overdosed at EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) in Los Angeles.
What does this all mean? Well nothing for the moment, but I can only imagine what elaborate law the powers at be are planning to enact if something similar happens again, especially on our waters. We being the greatest nation in the world and all, have to set an example by passing fatuous laws that will only make things worse, furthermore planting a hateful seed that will surely grow into a cancer infecting pop culture, mass media, and the proliferation of electronic music via the mainstream.
I can only hope the organizations putting together these events take additional precaution by hiring additional security and avoiding over capacity. It’s either that or placing an age cap on these shows. Which essentially kills off half the revenue stream for many promoters, axing HARD, EDC, and several others who rely on their underage attendees.
My suggestion to all you underage ravers, don’t ODEE! Simple as that! If your’e going to consume drugs and alcohol do it responsbily! Not that I condone the use of these substances, but you’re obviously all doing it regardless so what’s the point in feeding you after school special tripe. Take your shit moderately and don’t fuck shit up for the grown ups! The genre and culture has come too far for events like these to regress the movement! This is exactly what happened in the 90′s, motherfuckers started overdosing so the labels started fluffing the content to kill off the intensity. Regarding the events in Germany, the booker for Love Parade needs to be executed live during a Bloody Beetroots set. Don’t OVERBOOK! <—- People tend to get killed.
Amen,
Stephen Alex Vasquez
